The Journal of Government Real Estate is uniquely positioned to provide practitioners significant insight into contemporary issues that can serve to enhance portfolios and increase profitability. This includes a wide range of reports, statistics, legislation and other information dealing with government real estate, covering not only GSA-leased property but also that of other federal agencies with delegated or statutory authority to do their own real estate. The Journal covers legislative initiatives initiated by the House and Senate subcommittees on public works, tracks prospectus-level lease and new construction projects introduced by federal agencies, and tabulates new lease awards and renewals.

Coverage is being expanded to include issues pertaining to real property leased to state and local governments, as well as opportunities to acquire surplus property no longer of use to government agencies. The Journal also publishes in-depth, journal-worthy articles of interest to developers, investors and asset managers of government real estate. The Journal serves as the voice of the National Federal Development Association, the largest trade association of its kind, reporting on fresh ideas and information exchange between government and industry presented at its national and regional conferences.
